After several leaks, Xiaomi confirmed the existence of the Mi TV Stick, the company’s new device that will compete in the smart television market. The company’s German division showed official images of the device during the launch event for the Redmi Note 9 series in the country.
According to the manufacturer, the product aims to offer a “better and simpler television experience”. The company did not reveal the specifications of the Mi TV Stick, but the image released does contain some details about the device.
The Mi TV Stick has a pendrive format and can be connected to the TV via HDMI. The device comes with a simplified remote control, which has buttons that quickly open Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
The remote control also has a dedicated button for Google Assistant, which indicates the presence of a microphone and support for voice commands. The use of technology also points out that the device will feature the Android TV operating system.
Although Xiaomi did not show more details about the product, the Mi TV Stick recently appeared in the Gearbest store. According to the list, the device will feature a system based on Android 9.0 Pie, Wi-Fi Dual Band and support for 4K and HDR resolution.
Chinese e-commerce also revealed the possible price of a Chromecast competitor: $ 80, about $ 473 in direct conversion to our currency. So far, however, Xiaomi has not revealed the value or launch date of the Mi TV Stick.
