The Wonders: cast of film marks reunion in live benefit

The cast of The Wonders – The Dream Is Not Over will meet after nearly 25 years of the comedy musical debut. The quartet formed by Tom Everett Scott, Johnathon Schaech, Steve Zahn and Ethan Embry will make a live to watch the film on streaming platforms. The purpose of the meeting will be to raise funds for MusiCares COVID-19, an organization to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

Another proposal of the initiative is to pay tribute to Adam Schlesinger, writer and composer of the famous music of the production, “That Thing You Do”, who died last month due to the disease. The event will be held next Friday (17) through the fictional band’s YouTube channel, in which fans can also ask questions. The news was shared by Scott, through his Twitter:

Directed by Tom Hanks, the feature is set in the 1960s and follows the trajectory of the rock band “Oneders”, later renamed “The Wonders”. In the plot, the aforementioned song, a nostalgic and fast-paced ballad, elevates the group to success after a performance.

The meeting also promises to bring special guests, however, with names yet to be revealed – although Liv Tyler and Charlize Theron, who served in the production, are expected to participate. It is worth pointing out that Hanks was one of the first Hollywood celebrities to reveal his positive diagnosis for covid-19 and, therefore, should make an appearance on live.
