Few objects are as popular as “Harry Potter”. What started with J.K. Rowling’s novels turned into a beloved franchise of eight films, theme parks, video games and even theatrical productions. The latter appeared in the form of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”, a story mainly about the sons of Draco and Harry. Fans hoped that a film adaptation would eventually appear, and hope that actors like Daniel Radcliffe would play their roles again. But would actor Jason Isaacs play Lucius Malfoy in the movie “The Cursed Child”? That’s what he thinks.
Actor Jason Isaacs appeared as the villain Lucius Malfoy in six Harry Potter films, serving as Draco’s father and a Death Eater for Voldemort. Since then, he has remained close with actors such as his on-screen son Tom Felton. But is he really ready to return as his signature character from the Wizarding World? The Patriot actor told Radio Times about this opportunity, sharing:
So we’ll see. It worked as part of the theater. Sometimes things that work like theater don’t work like movies. Sometimes things that work like books don’t work in theater, so I wouldn’t… uh… never say never.
How delightfully mysterious. Although Isaacs does not rule out that he will play Lucius Malfoy in the film “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”, he is not sure that this project will ever be realized. After all, it can be difficult for films to adapt stage material, even if it belongs to the same beloved franchise. But smart Money says fans will keep their fingers crossed to see the whole band together again on the big screen.
Jason Isaacs’ comments are just the most recent example of the “Harry Potter” star being asked about a possible “Cursed Child” movie. This question was asked to many of his colleagues, including Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint. The cast has not yet reached the appropriate age for their characters in the play, so there is still plenty of time. But the guys from Warner Bros. there were no signs that they were trying to turn stage productions into a movie.
Perhaps the reason why development has not progressed is that “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” is still running both on Broadway and in the West End. Perhaps it would have been a wiser decision from a financial point of view to release a film version after they closed. Moreover, it doesn’t seem that the actors are so eager to return to the Magical World. But who knows, maybe this will change over time.
As mentioned earlier, “Cursed Child” primarily follows two new main characters: Harry’s son Albus and Draco’s son Scorpius. As the two go through time at Hogwarts and eventually experience a time adventure, adult versions of the original characters also play major roles. Among them are Harry, Hermione, Ron, Ginny and Draco.
