Why Zach Shallcross Was Nervous About Being a Bachelor and The “Best Advice” He Got From Former Protagonist Sean Lowe

America was introduced to Zach Shallcross in season 19 of The Bachelorette as one of Rachel Recchia’s suitors in her double season alongside Gabby Windy. He made it to the final three before being baffled by the self-destruct after Fantasy Suite, which prepared him for his own journey to find love as the new protagonist of “The Bachelor.” Shollcross spoke with CinemaBlend before the premiere of the 27th season and admitted that he was nervous about this role, but it didn’t hurt that he was helped by one of the most successful main characters of the franchise in the person of Sean Lowe, who, according to the new bachelor. gave him “the best advice.”

As tempting as it may sound, when dozens of people are competing for your affection, the path to love has not been the easiest over the past couple of seasons of the ABC dating show. Rachel Recchia threatened to quit The Bachelorette party several times, finalists Gabby Windy didn’t want to get engaged, and Clayton Echard said he regretted going on the show after the infamous “Rose Ceremony from Hell.” Zach Shallcross admitted to CinemaBlend’s Nick Venable that watching how things were going with Echard caused some nerves about his own decision to become a bachelor, saying:

Looking back at Clayton’s season and how it all happened, I was definitely nervous coming into it. Things were decided in a very peculiar way — I can say it mildly — in his season. As for me, I went for it as if I wouldn’t have any specific rules for myself or a collection of scripts. I’m just going to put up with it day in and day out, just being the person that I am, and hopefully I’ll handle it right. That’s how it was. But yes, there were fears that there could be a worst-case scenario. But, you know, I didn’t let it bother me in any way.

While it sounds like Zach Shallcross knew about the drama that befell those before him, he was determined to be himself to take advantage of the opportunity presented to him. According to him, he talked about this with the host of the 17th season, Sean Lowe, who is married and has three children with Catherine Giudici, a woman to whom he proposed at the end of his season, which was filmed in 2012.

The Bachelor of Season 27 told CinemaBlend that Sean Lowe’s advice was not to do anything out of character—something to strive for, regardless of whether the film crew is chasing you. According to Zack Shallcross:

What he has always helped me with advice or support is to keep calm in all this, as much as possible. But, you know, regardless of whether it’s a TV show or you’re being filmed, just be the Zack you know yourself and who you’re comfortable with, always. Do not do anything that is not typical of you, and, no matter how banal, be true to yourself. So he also says don’t take yourself too seriously. And I mean, that’s one of the best tips.

In this regard, Zach Shallcross said that we will all see soon that “I don’t take this seriously.” For example, I am excited to see how his strategy plays out when the premiere of the 27th season of “The Bachelor” takes place at 20:00 Moscow time. ET Monday, January 23, on ABC. Be sure to check out our TV program for 2023 to find out what other premieres are waiting for us in the near future.
