Continuing the strategy of boosting its presence in the electric vehicle market, Volkswagen announced a launch that will impress many car enthusiasts: the “Electric Kombi” e-Bulli Electrified Classic Bus.
The initiative, in fact, is a partnership with eClassics and allows vehicles already built to “transform” into a more environmentally friendly alternative – that is, you will not find it, for the time being, in a common dealer.
For the initial trifle of € 64,900 (almost R $ 400 thousand, in direct conversion), it is possible to replace the original chassis with an electric version, which includes a 35 kWh battery and an electric motor that drives the rear wheels.
This value concerns the standard version, with 83 horsepower, which does not mean that you cannot spend a little more and add the stiffer version, with 45 kWh battery and 101 horsepower electric motor. .
Power is the big news – but not only
Other adaptations give a new face to e-Bulli. An LED charge meter is present on the outside, as well as daytime running lights with the same technology integrated into the headlights. Of course, inside, there is also change. A new automatic gear selector was added, in addition to a start / stop button and digital display next to the standard speedometer.
Component replacement is carried out by eClassics, but both the engine and battery are supplied by Volkswagen itself and are similar to the e-Up !. The difference is in the power.
While the “original” reaches 105 km / h, the e-Bulli reaches 130 km / h. The range is up to 200 km with a load). Charging also doesn’t take much time: 40 minutes using a 50 kW fast charger is enough to complete 80% of the battery.
According to Volkswagen, driving the new version is much better than driving the classic one thanks to the multi-link front and rear axles with adjustable shock absorbers and coil supports and the addition of four ventilated brake discs and optimized steering components.
