Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray believes that Amad Diallo has the talent to break into the Manchester United team of Eric ten Haga.
As reported in The Northern Echo, Mowbray told the United hierarchy that Diallo has everything he needs to break through to the highest level.
Diallo has been in great form for Sunderland since his loan spell at the start of the season, playing a key role in the Black Cat’s promotion to the playoffs.
The young player showed another strong result, helping himself to his seventh goal of the campaign in Sunderland’s impressive 2-0 win over Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough.

Mowbray has been particularly impressed with the 20-year-old since he took over the Stadium of Light.
“He did exceptionally well. He’s almost earned the right to play every minute of every game for the last two months. And all thanks to his talent.” he said.
“He always poses a threat to the opposition. The defenders hang out their leg and he dances past them.”
The Sunderland boss has admitted he has spoken to senior figures at Old Trafford about Diallo’s development.
“This week I had a long conversation with the Manchester United coaches who asked about Amada.” he said.
Mowbray is not worried about Diallo’s footballing abilities, but believes that it is his personality and ability to cope with pressure that decide whether he will succeed at Old Trafford.
“There is talent. I know he will never lack talent because the ball is stuck to his left foot. The question is whether the personality will mature and whether she will believe that she can play on this stage. If he can get that and feel comfortable in that environment, then he has the talent to thrive there.” he said.
Erik ten Hag has good opportunities in wide areas and Diallo will have to prove his worth to the United coach during his loan spell and when he returns to the club.
Diallo was signed by United in 2021 on a £37 million deal with Italian side Atalanta.
He made nine appearances for the club, scoring the only goal in the Europa League against Milan.
