The social network TikTok closed a partnership with the organization of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) to transmit live content of the competition. The short video platform will be used to distribute behind-the-scenes videos and news from the championship.
The value of the contract signed between the organizations has not been revealed, but the partnership will last for several years, according to an official statement. According to TikTok, the content will be available on the official UFC profile on the social network, as well as on accounts dedicated to Brazil, Russia and Europe.
The official UFC profile on TikTok was created in October 2019 and has seen rapid growth on the short video platform, which could be the reason for the partnership. The main account of the competition has 6.3 million followers in the app, being the third most popular among sports leagues.
The partnership promises to yield hundreds of content annually to the UFC accounts on TikTok. The league organization promises weekly live content on the social network, including behind the scenes fights, interactions with athletes and exclusive content made especially for the platform.
The content generated by the partnership will begin to be distributed on the social network this Saturday (20). TikTok will be used to promote the UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. Lewis, which takes place in Las Vegas, United States.
The partnership with the UFC marks another positive step for TikTok after the social network became involved in controversies last year. During the year 2020, the application was almost banned from the United States, since its developer is a Chinese company.
Currently, the app is already out of sight for US authorities.
