The house of Northern Soul DJ Ted Massey was robbed last night (February 26), and thieves took his extensive collection of records.

Thieves stole two record boxes totaling about 250 records while Massey was in the house. The boxes could potentially be worth tens of thousands of pounds, especially since some of the records inside them could be extremely rare.

Posting on social media about the theft, Massey said: “Just now my house was invaded while I was lying in bed, demanding specifically my boxes for records that I took out tonight, they took boxes for 100 and 150 bills and fled. The police are here at the moment. Basically crossovers have become big names…” before moving on to listing some stolen records.

Then he shared a photo of one of the thieves, taken on a door camera.

Eddie Croasdell, DJ at the 100 Club in London, shared the news, adding: “These very rare records were stolen from the home of one of the most beloved collectors and DJs in the northern soul scene. Three men broke into his house and demanded from him two record boxes for about 150 accounts. They are so rare that their sale will arouse suspicion. Please inform Ted, the police or me if you have any suspicions.

Ted Massey is regularly present on the Northern Soul stage and is highly respected there for his taste and knowledge. Due to the rarity of some records, their sale is likely to arouse suspicion.
