The Witcher: Netflix revealed this Thursday (25) an unprecedented teaser for the 2nd season of The Witcher, featuring a new creature to threaten Geralt and an enchanted weapon that the wizard of Rívia will wield in the new episodes of the series.
The 15-second video shows the White Wolf fighting a Myriapod, a centipede-shaped insect that closely resembles the “yghern”, originally featured in The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine. In the scene, the protagonist uses his Aard magic barrier to avoid the creature’s powerful blows, while holding the silver sword imbued with a glyph of flame.
According to showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich, the second season of The Witcher will feature the addition of new mythological beings and wild monsters, with the Myriapod joining the already confirmed Lich, Nivellen and a witch of unknown origin.
“The Blood of Elves has no monsters,” Lauren said, referring to Andrzej Sapkowski’s book, which will serve as an inspiration for the television cycle. “There just aren’t that many. But we know from the games that people really like to see Geralt fighting monsters, so we kept adding more monsters to Season Two.”
