The Outer Worlds 2 Went Into Production Before The First Release.

The Outer Worlds 2: The sequel to The Outer Worlds began to be developed even before the release of the first game. At least that’s what confirms the LinkedIn profile of Dan Maas, director at Obsidian. While the sequel began development in September 2019, The Outer Worlds was released the following month, in October 2020. The fact was noted by Twitter user Faizan Shaikh:

“‘The Outer Worlds 2‘ has been in development since September 2019. ‘The Outer Worlds 1’ was released on October 25, 2019. So TOW 2 was in development before the release of the first[…] Until the end 2023 or the early 2024 launch window, maybe it’s possible,” Shaikh said in his post.

Early production demonstrates the company’s confidence in the game, which would later become a hit. As The Outer Worlds 2 has been in development for over 2 years, we may have the second game in hand sooner than we thought, in 2023 or 2024, even without an official date announced so far. This, considering that Obsidian itself has plans to follow a regular schedule for production and release of its titles.

However, Obsidian Entertainment is not only focused on this project at the moment. There are at least 4 games in development, counting others detailed only in rumors, such as the RPG Pentiment and the “Midnight Project”. One such game the company is working on is another action-RPG, Avowed, which is currently in pre-alpha, according to a recent report.

The Outer Worlds is available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox X/S and can also be played from the Game Pass catalogue. Have you given the game a chance?
