The Latest Update of Halo Infinite Blocks Players If There Is Not Enough Video Memory on Their Video Card.

Facepalm: If you’ve played Halo Infinite, but suddenly found that it no longer works after the last update, here’s the bad news: you probably need a new graphics card. FPS has requested 4 GB of video memory since launch, but some players have found that they can still play it using video cards that don’t meet this requirement — until now.

The requirement of Halo Infinite that the video card has 4 GB of video memory is indicated both on the Microsoft store page and on the official website of the game. Steam does not mention the amount of video memory required, but the minimum requirements are listed as AMD RX 570 or Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti, both of which have 4 GB of memory.

However, some people have played the 343 Industries game using cards that are more powerful than the GTX 1050 Ti but have less video memory, such as the 3GB version of the GTX 1060, which, according to users, ran the game pretty well at lower settings.

The Season 3: Echoes Within update, released earlier this month, is the largest multiplayer update of Halo Infinite, which will bring with it new maps, modes and weapons, as well as ray tracing support. According to DSO Gaming, this also stops the game from working with cards with 3 GB of video memory, despite the fact that the patch notes say nothing about this new limitation — although 4 GB of video memory was already the minimum requirement, so 343 Industries probably didn’t do it. I feel the need to mention this.

After the update, anyone who tries to download a game with an incompatible map will find that it does not start and will see the following message.

It’s been almost five years since Nvidia released the GTX 1050 3GB, and the GTX 1060 3GB is even older, but both remain popular among Valve’s Steam survey participants. However, if you own one of these maps, you should probably consider upgrading, especially if you’re a fan of Halo Infinite.
