The winter series of Love Island UK 2023 began on January 16, when host Maya Jama replaced the previous host Laura Whitmore — here’s everything you need to know about the new host of the show.
The popular ITV reality show “Love Island” returns again this year with the series “Winter 2023”, in which a new cast enters the villa in an attempt to find love and get a chance to win 50,000 pounds.
The previous three seasons of the show were hosted by Laura Whitmore, but in 2022 the star announced that she was stepping down as the host of the hugely popular series.
Winter Love Island 2023 is hosted by presenter Maya Jama — that’s all you need to know about her.
Who is Maya Jama from Love Island UK?
Maya Jama is a 28—year-old presenter from Bristol who has hosted a number of different popular TV and radio shows throughout her career, including “The Circle”, “Glow Up: The British Makeup Star” and her eponymous show on BBC Radio 1 “Maya Jama”.
Jama was announced as the new host of Love Island in October 2022, much to the delight of fans who are excited to see the star take on a huge role.

In an interview with The Times before the new season, she said, “Once you start working in television, you’ll meet a lot of producers through various shows, and executives will learn about the talent. It’s strange to call yourself a talent, isn’t it? I speak for life. It’s not really tap dancing everywhere or performing a ballad.”
“So I think I’ve always been in their field of vision, but I was very young when there were changes of presenters in the past.”
Maya went on to say that she didn’t have to audition for the role of the Love Island host, and that she said yes “right away.”
Winter Love Island in the UK began on January 16, and new episodes air every day except Saturday at 21:00 GMT on ITV2.
