Tesla, the electric car maker Tesla, co-CEO of Elon Musk, announced that the model 3 Long Range RWD, which was discontinued in the USA, will be produced in China. The company, which also updated the Chinese website, shared the features of the vehicle under the heading “Made in China”.
US-based electric car maker Tesla has decided to manufacture the previously discontinued Tesla Model 3 Long Range RWD at its Chinese factory. Long-range models manufactured in Gigafactory Shanghai will be sold in the country with the approval of the Chinese government.
The reason the news attracted so much attention was that Tesla had stopped production of the long-range Model 3 RWD model in the U.S. before. It is a matter of curiosity that the production stopped at the company’s homeland is underway at the factory in China.
Tesla Model 3 Long Range RWD will be sold at a lower price than usual with incentives in the country:
The US-based company also changed the Chinese website after receiving government approval, and updated the page of the Long Range Model 3 RWD, the first vehicle manufactured in the Shanghai factory, under the heading “Made in China”. After the updates, the sales prices of the vehicles in China were also published on the site.
At this point, the company lists the Model 3 RWD produced in China from 366,550 yuan ($ 52,000 / 348,000 TL), but after electric vehicle incentives in China, this price drops down to 339,050 yuan ($ 48,000 / 321,000 TL).
Only lower-class versions will be produced in China:
According to Tesla’s Chinese website, the standard range Model 3 can cover 445 kilometers on a single charge. On the other hand, long range RWD Model 3 is said to travel 668 kilometers on a single charge. At this point, it should be noted that these distance estimates are based on WLTP (Worldwide Compatible Test Procedure for Light Vehicles) and the actual distances will be much lower.
Announcing the production of Model 3 in China, Elon Musk also made an important statement. In a statement by Musk, it was stated that Tesla will only produce lower-class versions in the country and the upper class will still be produced in Fremont, California.
