In a statement by the International Data Company (IDC), tablet sales increased by 18.6 percent. It was stated that this increase was realized thanks to COVID-19. We saw that mobile computer sales dropped in the last two quarters of last year.
Tablet sales, which recovered in the second quarter of 2020, show that some habits have changed with a growth of approximately 19 percent. IDC announced that 38.6 million tablets have been sold in the past three months. Apple continues to be the first in the tablet market thanks to the iPad models produced in 2019.
IDC said Apple sold 12.4 million iPads this quarter. Samsung witnessed a 42.5 percent growth compared to the same period of the previous year and managed to sell 7 million tablets in 90 days. So what happened in China?
Trying to stand up against the US embargo, Huawei achieved 43.5 percent growth compared to the same period last year. The Chinese company, which managed to become the leader of the smartphone market, sold 4.8 million tablets this quarter.
When we look at Amazon, we see a 52 percent growth. Amazon, which has shipped 3.6 million tablets in the last three months, came up with the new Fire HD tablet 2 months ago. Finally, we understand that Lenovo witnessed a 51 percent growth and earned revenue from 2.8 million tablets this quarter.
In the second quarter of last year, a total of 32.6 million tablets were shipped. Based on this, we can say that there has been an increase of 6 million. We can also say that Apple, Samsung and Huawei trio have an important place in the tablet market.
