The HBO Max platform has officially placed the order for a spin-off series to the film “The Suicide Squad” dedicated to the character played by ex-wrestler John Cena.
Expected in theaters next summer, The Suicide Squad is set for a spin-off series! The HBO Max platform has given the green light to an eight-episode season of Peacemaker, dedicated to the anti-hero played by ex-wrestler John Cena; Director James Gunn is also involved in the project, not only to script the entire season but also to direct several episodes, including the pilot.
According to our colleagues from the Hollywood Reporter, a filming in early 2021 is already planned, in order to allow James Gunn to ensure the shooting of the series before the start of the shooting of the third part of Guardians of the Galaxy which will mark his return to the Marvel Universe after his dismissal for inappropriate comments.
According to sources inside Warner Bros. studio, the character of Peacemaker would have caught the eye of the production after the screening of a first cut of The Suicide Squad. Everything seems to indicate that 2021 will be a landmark year for John Cena, especially since he will also be found in the cast of another popular franchise: Fast and Furious 9.
