Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett: The new Disney + original series will premiere on December 29 and will have a first season of 7 episodes. In the age of spoils, where every detail trickles through the net as soon as it comes out, Lucasfilm hasn’t been fooling around. Not only did the company manage to hide Grogu’s presence in the first season of The Mandalorian, it was also able to maintain the surprise at the end of the second season. Robert Rodríguez, one of those responsible for Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett, has revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that they have only used footage from the first half of episode 1 for official trailers.
“We can’t use the second part of the first episode because it reveals a lot,” said the director. The North American publication adds that “the producers have only revealed footage from the first minutes” of the season, which will run over seven episodes.
Coming out of the stomach of the Sarlacc
One detail that they have shown us is what happened just when Boba Fett was left for dead under the sands of Tatootine. In Return of the Jedi, after a fight for survival, Jabba the Hutt dies and Boba is swallowed by the Sarlacc, a horrible beast whose digestion lasts thousands and thousands of years. Undoubtedly, an unappetizing death for the victim, even if it is for the monster.
We still don’t know how he escaped from the creature’s entrails, but one of the teasers has hinted at Boba Fett in one of the healing devices that have already been seen in Star Wars movies. In fact, Luke Skywalker himself is introduced into one of those chambers when he nearly freezes to death during The Empire Strikes Back, on Hoth.
Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett is one of the spin-offs of The Mandalorian that were announced in 2020. The third season of the Mandalorian is already in full swing, while Ahsoka will begin its filming process next year. Lucasfilm has hinted that Rangers of the New Republic has been canceled, so some of the storylines will be integrated into future seasons of the series starring Din Djarin.
Disney + will premiere The Book of Boba Fett on December 29.
