Spotify tests interactive surveys for podcasts


Spotify is testing a new feature to make podcast content more “interactive”. The company brings the survey feature, which attracts great attention on Instagram, to its podcasts. In Spotify’s surveys, survey owners and respondents can see the results in real time. But unlike Instagram, the owners of the answers given here will remain anonymous. It will be necessary to vote to see the results of the poll.

Spotify has begun testing this new feature on original content such as The Rewatchables and Crime Countdown from today. About 90 percent of listeners will see these polls on Spotify’s iOS and Android apps. However, after a while, all users will be able to see these polls.

It is currently unknown whether Spotify will open this podcast feature to content outside of its direct control. Polls can be viewed on the episode page of podcasts or on the Now Playing page.

Spotify had tested an interactive podcast feature earlier this year. In June, the company started testing interactive ads that didn’t require users to remember promotional codes. This feature was aimed at solving a problem affecting listeners and program owners. The survey feature seems to be a job of testing users’ desire to interact with the application. If users approach this test positively, Spotify will have another trump card to attract podcast owners.
