Snapchat decided to anticipate the launch of a series of functions in the app that help those who are experiencing anxiety attacks, depression and other cases of mental health. The tool is called “Here For You”, and was originally announced in February to come out only in April, but the company accelerated procedures due to the pandemic of the new Coronavirus (COVID-19 ).
With the novelty, users can search for specific terms to receive specialized content curation. When playing “anxiety”, “stress” or “bullying” in the search box, for example, you are faced with relaxing videos, profiles of mental health organizations with advice and images that try to calm the user down.
In addition, a section specific to the Coronavirus situation is under development and is due to go live next week. It should bring up-to-date prevention information with data and messages from agencies with the Disease Control Center (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
According to the company, this is a way to connect people to each other in quarantine moments, especially among the younger audience and the most frequent user of the application.
