A secret message was also included in the last block issued before the halving happened in Bitcoin. The message had the headline of the New York Times newspaper dated April 9, 2020.
The third of the Bitcoin block prize halving (happening every 4 years) took place. In block 630,000, miners’ reward per block dropped from 12.5 BTC to 6.25 BTC.
From now on, 900 new BTCs will be produced instead of 1800 daily. On an annual basis, this figure will be 328,500 instead of 657,000.
The block number 629,999 before the block where Halving took place was removed by one of the leading mining pools, F2Pool. There was also a secret message placed in this block by F2Pool.
“NYTimes 09 / April / 2020 Fed’s $ 2.3 Trillion Plan Made a Difference to the Rescue Operation in 2008” was written on the block. This message refers to the headline of the New York Times newspaper on April 9, 2020.
On the other hand, this is not a first for Bitcoin. There was a message placed by Satoshi Nakamoto in the first block of Bitcoin, Genesis block. In this message, the words “The Times 03 / January / 2009 are on the Verge of Second Savings for Banks”. Bitcoin was a challenge against the endless monetary expansion policies of central banks after the global economic crisis that emerged in 2008. Nakamoto revealed his target with this headline that he wrote to the first block.
Finally, the mining pool AntPool, backed by Bitmain, released block 630,000, where halving took place. In other words, the first block reward of 6.25 BTC went to AntPool.
