The Seattle Arts and Music Festival, Bumbershoot, announces its triumphant return to the Seattle Center this Labor Day weekend to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

Bumbershoot, the Seattle Arts and music Festival, will return to the Seattle Center this Labor Day weekend, September 2-3, 2023. This event celebrates the 50th anniversary of the festival, cementing its position as one of the oldest recurring festivals in the United States.

“We are very excited to return and lead an artistic program that reflects the fundamental principles of Bumbershoot,” says Steven Severin, co—president and Director of Music Programming. “We heard the opinion of our community and took action, fulfilling our promise of accessibility and inclusivity. Rethinking our festival for this return, we looked at everything through the prism of art and expanded the idea of what art is and what it can be. We look forward to sharing our vision this Labor Day weekend.”

To celebrate its golden anniversary, Bumbershoot teamed up with Amazon to announce an early booking promotion: general admission tickets for $50 for one day and $85 for two days, which is 50% lower than when the event was last held in 2019. Together with Third Stone, Amazon is also supporting the distribution of 5,000 free tickets directly to non-profit organizations and underserved communities.

“The Bumbershoot Festival is a legendary cultural institution in the Pacific Northwest, and we are proud to support its 50th anniversary as the festival returns to its roots, creating an inclusive celebration for the Seattle artistic community,” says David Zapolsky, senior vice president of Amazon. and a longtime Bumbershoot fan.

“As ticket prices for concerts and events around the world steadily increase, we are pleased to support discounted and free tickets, creating an opportunity for more members of our community to enjoy the diversity of Seattle’s creative ecosystem, participate in exciting Bumbershoot educational programs and immerse themselves in the arts.”

Tickets will go on sale on Friday, February 24, at 10:00 Pacific Time, and fans are advised to buy them in advance, as tickets are expected to sell quickly. Additional announcements are expected, such as large-scale installations, culinary art, and a comprehensive music lineup.
