The Scream VI trailer is officially released — watch it above.
In the new film, Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera reprise their roles as sisters Sam and Tara Carpenter, picking up where the 2022 reboot left off.
Barrera talks about the “darkness” inside her in the trailer, in which Hayden Panettieri returns to the franchise for the first time since 2011’s “Scream 4.”
Courteney Cox is also starring in the new movie, and can be seen trying to shoot a new version of Ghostface in the upcoming movie.
The synopsis of “Scream VI” reads: “After the latest Ghostface murders, four survivors leave Woodsboro and begin a new chapter.”
Neve Campbell, who played the beloved last girl of the franchise Sidney Prescott, previously confirmed that she would not return due to a salary dispute. “I felt that the offer that was made to me did not match the value that I brought to the franchise,” Campbell wrote at the time. “It was a very difficult decision to move on.”
“Scream VI” is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who directed the previous film, from a script written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Basik.
The film will be released in theaters on March 10, 2023.
In a five-star review of the latest “Scream” movie, NME wrote: “Scream 5 doesn’t just work. Not just brilliant. This is probably the beginning of the most glorious period of the franchise to date.”
