Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay faces a race against time to be fit and ready for the FA Cup match against Fulham on Sunday.
United are hosting Marco Silva’s players at Old Trafford, and Eric ten Haag desperately wants his team to reach the semi-finals of the competition.
The United boss will not be able to count on the services of many players who will not be available for selection either due to injury or suspension.
Casemiro will serve his first four-game suspension after a red card against Southampton.
Christian Eriksen, Alejandro Garnacho and Donny van de Beek are still out of the game as they recover from long-term injuries.
Anthony missed United’s training session on Friday and it remains to be seen if he will play against the Cottagers.
Anthony Martial has been training with his teammates, but according to Ten Haga, the Frenchman may not be ready for competitive action yet.
But to make matters worse, especially in an already devastated midfield, Ten Hag gave disturbing information about McTominay yesterday.
The Dutchman said, “As you said, we have just returned. We have to see, see the doctor. I have an idea, but I have to see progress with some players.”
“As for the last game, that’s why I didn’t invite him, Scott McTominay, [because] he had some complaints.”
“We need to see how this develops in the coming hours and days.”
Ten Hag will have to find a solution in the absence of McTominay and Casemiro. Luckily for Ten Hag, Marcel Sabitzer is back. The Austrian came off the bench in the match against Betis in Spain and performed well.
