Samsung Suspends Android 12 With One UI 4 for Z Fold 3 And Z Flip 3

Samsung has opted to temporarily cancel the One UI 4 interface update, which comes with Android 12, on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 folding devices. entering recovery mode and even “bricking” completely in some cases.

Being an early adopter of system updates is always risky, as the promise of new things always comes with the risk of new issues. Apparently that’s exactly what’s happening with the updates for Samsung’s folding smartphones.

New look, new problems

The Android 12 update arrived on Samsung devices with the new One UI 4 interface and immediately started to show problems in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 models. With that, the South Korean manufacturer chose to suspend indefinitely the distribution of the new interface, which, it seems, is mainly responsible for the disorder.

One of the trademarks of each Android device is its manufacturer’s characteristic interface. By directly modifying the way the user interacts with the operating system, this interface also ends up being one of the first points of failure in new versions.

In the case of One UI 4, users of the Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 handsets have started to report on the support forums that their cell phones have started to experience random crashes, slowdowns and screen flickering. In more serious cases, the update made the smartphones unusable, or put the devices into recovery mode as soon as the system completed the interface update.

Apparently, the problem only affects collapsible models. Therefore, until Samsung identifies the cause and fixes these issues, the update to One UI 4 will be blocked for these devices.
