Rust: A tragic accident marked the film set of the film Rust this Monday morning (22). During a recording, actor Alec Baldwin fired a scenographic gun and injured 2 people, including Halyna Hutchins, director of photography, who died shortly thereafter. Director Joel Souza is still in the hospital.
“The entire cast and crew are absolutely devastated by today’s tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Halyna’s family and loved ones,” according to a statement from Rust Movies Productions LLC, published by Deadline.
In the Wild West plot, Baldwin brings to life Harland Rust, an outlaw who lives on the run from the police and bounty hunters. When 13-year-old grandson Lucas (played by Brady Noon) is sentenced to death for an accidental murder, Rust crosses the Wild West to rescue him.
Together, the two evade police — headed by Sheriff Wood Helm (Jensen Ackles) — and a famous bounty hunter, played by Travis Fimmel.
So far, no further details about the plot have been revealed. In addition to acting in production, Alec Baldwin also worked as an executive producer. With Halyna’s death, production was suspended for an indefinite period and there is no preview.
