Round 6: Series Will Have Season 2? Creator Comments!

Round 6: One of the biggest surprises in the series world recently is Round 6. The South Korean production of Netflix tells the story of people facing a bizarre and violent game to win a millionaire prize. A lot of people were taken by surprise with season 1 and wonder: will it have a season 2?

The creator, screenwriter and director, Hwang Dong-hyuk, responded on the matter in an interview this Friday (24) for the website Variety. According to him, fans should lower their expectations.

“I don’t have well-developed plans for Squid Game 2 (the original name of the series in English). It’s very tiring just thinking about it. But if he did, he certainly wouldn’t do it alone. I would consider using a writers room and would like several experienced directors,” he argued.

Dong-hyuk said he is very pleased with the success of Round 6, but that producing the show was stressful and that he doesn’t plan on repeating the schedule anytime soon.

“I’m not very good at teamwork,” he revealed. The South Korean said that he enjoys working alone and that his more introspective method has helped him a lot in recent years.

He tried to calm the audience down as well because he’s currently drafting the script for a movie called KO Club, short for “Killing Old Men Club”. He said this will be a feature film about a great conflict between people of different generations.

Sudden success

Round 6 was released on September 17th and entered the top 10 most watched series on Netflix just two days later. Four days later, the program was already in 1st position.

In South Korea, the country of origin of the production, the series debuted in 2nd place and went to the first place just a day later.
