It seemed to many that Ryan Grantan had a growing career, over the years he got roles in famous TV shows. However, this professional trajectory changed in 2022, after Grantham was found guilty of murdering his mother in 2020 and plotting to assassinate Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Since then, it may seem that since then he has been striving to achieve internal progress. It was reported that the young Riverdale graduate admitted that he has a “job” on himself while he is in prison.
Ryan Grantham appeared in “Riverdale” as Jeffrey Augustine, a young man who accidentally killed Fred Andrews Luke Perry — an event that occurred after the unexpected death of the 90210 star from a stroke at 52. In the summer of 2022, Grantham pleaded guilty to the fatal accident. shot his mother and tried to kill Justin Trudeau. Now TMZ has provided an update from Grantham’s lawyer Chris Johnson on how the 25-year-old is doing. The lawyer said:
Mr. Grantham recently informed me that he is doing well, he is getting the help he needs and has gained some insight into what happened and why. He regrets what he did to his mother.
TMZ also understands that Chris Johnson was very concerned about his client’s well-being. Because the former actor is petite, Johnson feared he would be “physically, psychologically and sexually intimidated” if he was placed in a maximum security prison. This eventually led to Johnson demanding his relocation, and in this regard, the authorities recommended that he remain in a prison hospital located in British Columbia, Canada.
This situation will remain in effect until a new location is determined. Currently, Ryan Grantham, who has starred in shows such as “iZombie” and “Supernatural” for many years, is serving a life sentence and is not eligible for parole for his first 14 years. Sources of the news agency also claim that he is currently visiting a prison psychologist, as well as a psychiatrist. At the same time, his lawyer also stressed that his client wants to focus on his mental health in the future:
He understands that he has a lot of personal work, but he devotes himself to it, so hopefully he can become a mentally healthy and useful member of society at some point in the future.
According to the Complex, Ryan Grantham experienced feelings of depression and self-loathing and felt the urge to violence in the months leading up to the murder. Crown Prosecutor Michaela Donnelly said Grantham was afraid his mother would find out about his poor performance at school and that he was taking drugs for recreational purposes. After Grantham eventually shot his mother in the back of the head in March 2020, he reportedly loaded his car with three pistols, ammunition, 12 Molotov cocktails, travel supplies and a printed Google map showing directions to Justin Trudeau’s cottage. His sister Lisa was the one who found their mother’s body and revealed that she had been battling cancer before her tragic murder.
Only time will tell whether the actor’s supposed focus on his mental health will continue in the foreseeable future and whether he will be able to do the “work” he needs. And, of course, it remains to be seen whether he will receive parole when he finally becomes eligible for release in a few years.
