Even though Redmi’s recently introduced smartphones provide protection against water drops and simple wetting, it cannot be used in underwater activities. Redmi is considering IP68 certification in the future.
Redmi launched the K30 Pro series phones in March. These phones have Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor. The protection level of the phone was IP53. Although this level of protection provides protection against splashes and wetting, it was not sufficient for underwater activities or swimming.
Lu Weibing, the vice president of Xiaomi Group and general manager of Redmi, made a statement about waterproof protection in his statements on China’s social media platform Weibo.
Redmi considers IP68 idea
Weibing previously stated that the company’s IP53 dust and water proof certificate is sufficient. Redmi users, on the other hand, announced that they did not look at this idea at all. In the comments received, it was striking that there was a serious demand for IP68.
Comments from users also caught the attention of Lu Weibing. “If everyone loves IP68 so much, we can consider this option for our future products,” said Redmi general manager.
Redmi’s latest smartphone K30 Pro had a 60 Hz Samsung AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor. The phone also featured 3.5mm headphone jack and infrared remote control.
