Producer Guarantees Chris Pratt Pro Mario’s Voice Is ‘Phenomenal’

Mario: The casting of Chris Pratt to voice Mario in the upcoming animated film for the Nintendo mascot was one of the biggest surprises in the gaming world in recent times. Not everyone took this surprise positively, but one of the film’s producers, Chris Meledandri assured that Pratt’s voice as Mario was “phenomenal”.

“All I can say is that the voice he’s doing for us and Mario is phenomenal. I can’t wait for people to hear it,” Meledandri declared when approached by reporters at an airport.

The executive is none other than the CEO and founder of Illumination, the animation studio responsible for the film. So of course it would be expected that he would defend the actor’s choice. Asked if Pratt would fake a heavy Italian accent for the plumber – just like his classic voice actor Charles Martinet does – Meledandri said no.

“We explain that in the movie. So you’ll see that we definitely allude to that, but it’s not the style of performance throughout the movie.” – explained the executive.
