A developer of technological solutions with an ozone generator (O3) may have found a new weapon against the coronavirus. After conducting gas tests in the laboratory of the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Wier, the startup in question, found that it was efficient in eliminating 99.9% of samples of two types of viruses in closed environments and with a high flow of people – one of which has similarities with Sars-CoV-2, which causes covid-19.

The company’s CEO, Dr. Bruno Mena Cadorin, is very optimistic. “Ozone can eliminate microorganisms in environments where it may be, such as vehicles, waiting rooms, hotel rooms, hospital beds, residences, among other similar places. In this scenario, the solution helps to reduce the spread of the virus and to prevent new cases of the disease “, he says.

Research and application
According to the company, the equipment uses cold plasma and ozone technologies, producing the gas that is able to fight microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses and fungi present in the air, water and surfaces in a safe and efficient manner.

“The application is simple and occurs through a device called Ozone Generator with cold plasma technology, which is compact, simple and intuitive to use. Another positive side is that the technology is sustainable and environmentally friendly “.

The surveys were carried out as follows: virucidal tests were performed at 5, 30 and 60 centimeters from the equipment, in a closed chamber, between 23 ° C and 20 ° C, at a fixed time of 60 minutes of exposure. As the gas spreads easily through the environments, it provides above average cleaning.

Also according to Cadorin, the great advantage is that it is not about ozone therapy and the use of ozone in people, but the use of ozone in contaminated environments as a sanitizer. In other words, it is a way to contain the spread when the contamination curve is finally controlled.
