OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are officially launched for up to $ 999

OnePlus announced on Tuesday (14) the new OnePlus 8 line of smartphones at an online event. The new devices, once again, arrive to compete with smartphones from large companies, such as the iPhone 11 and Galaxy S20 lines. For this, they gained a series of improvements in hardware and had their prices high.

The two models, OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, are compatible with 5G technology, bring huge screens and the Snapdragon 865 chipset, currently the most powerful from Qualcomm. These are the suggested prices:

OnePlus 8: $ 699 (128 GB) and $ 799 (256 GB)

OnePlus 8 Pro: $ 899 (128 GB) and $ 999 (256 GB)

In direct conversion based on today’s date, disregarding import taxes, the line has a starting price of around R $ 3,880 to R $ 5,830. The 128 GB versions of both bring 8 GB of RAM, while the models with 256 GB of internal space have 12 GB of RAM.

OnePlus 8
OnePlus was not able to do much mystery in relation to OnePlus 8. A series of leaks had already shown the look of the smartphone. It follows with a glass body on both sides and metal on the sides, it follows with the 3.5mm headphone jack (P2) and its cameras are centered vertically.

A new haptic system (HapticVibration 2.0) was added to the new smartphones in the OnePlus 8 line. According to the company, the feature makes an important difference in games, but this also impacts on general use and the way the phone vibrates in notifications and features of the system.

The front of the OnePlus 8 is highlighted. The company calls the technology used by him Fluid AMOLED, in reference to the fastest refresh rate of 90Hz, as in the OnePlus 7T.

The OnePlus 8 has a 6.55-inch Full HD + screen (2400 x 1080 pixels, 20: 9) with HDR10 + and a small notch in the upper left corner for the front camera. The new aspect leaves aside the previous cut, in the shape of a “drop”, but the premise is the same: deliver more canvas and less borders on the front.

The company reinforced that the OnePlus 8 passed tests on DisplayMate and received an A + score, achieving excellent results in 10 points. The OnePlus 8 Pro, by comparison, wanted 13 records

OnePlus also brought the Snapdragon 865, Qualcomm’s most powerful chipset, in addition to Android 10 from the factory. This is the same chipset as the ‘Pro’ version – which, on the other hand, has faster RAM.

The model’s cameras, on the other hand, lost the telephoto optical zoom sensor. The main lens is now 48 MP (Sony IMX586) and the wide-angle 16 MP, as in the previous generation. Another novelty is the 16 MP camera (Sony IMX471, f / 2.0) that is present in both versions.

The colors available for the OnePlus 8 are Onyx Black, Glacial Green, Interstellar Glow. The latter has a similar appearance to the Galaxy Note10, which according to the ambient light reflects different colors on the back of the phone. The color also has a more mirrored appearance.

OnePlus 8 Pro
The OnePlus 8 Pro has a number of things in common with the OnePlus 8. For example: both have the same chipset, NFC, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, USB-C 3.1 input, fingerprint reader under the display. But for the first time, OnePlus brings IP68 certification to one of its smartphones, ensuring that it is resistant to dips in water of up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.

The device’s screen also gains some improvements: it is the same Fluid AMOLED, but with 6.78 inches, QHD + resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The device also has a touch rate of 240Hz, which helps to reproduce everything smoothly.

In the cameras, in addition to the main sensor of 48 MP (Sony IMX689), the OnePlus 8 Pro has a second camera, also of 48 MP, that has wide angle lens. According to the company, the photos with this sensor are not stretched in the contours. It is also capable of taking photos with the night mode on. The other cameras have 8 MP and 5 MP, one for hybrid optical zoom and one for color filter, respectively.

Both the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro can record 4K video at 30fps or 60fps, or 1080p at 240fps in slow motion modes. Only the Pro version has the audio zoom feature, present in models such as the iPhone 11 Pro or Galaxy S20 Ultra, for example.

The color filter camera can be a nice addition to the set. It can be very well explored in situations where lighting would normally be inaccurate, but also in scenarios with a lot of contrast.

This is also the first time that OnePlus brings support for induction charging to one of its smartphones. It supports chargers up to 30W, named Warp Charge 30W Wireless. According to a comparison demonstrated at the event, the resource can charge 52% in 30 minutes, against 35% of the Galaxy S20 Ultra and 22% of the iPhone 11 Pro at the same time.

The OnePlus 8 Pro will be marketed in Ultramarine Blue, Onyx Black and Glacial Green.

In addition to the hardware, OnePlus also announced an OxygenOS enhancement on the OnePlus 8 Pro. According to the manufacturer, there are 280 new optimizations designed to make the Android experience smoother on the 120Hz screen. A new dark theme and dynamic wallpapers are part of the package.
