In short: Nvidia’s RTX 4070 Ti went on sale at the beginning of the month at a recommended retail price of $800. Most people agree that it is too expensive, and it is not easy to find it at such a price (but still doable). But the criticism doesn’t seem to be hurting sales of Lovelace’s latest album, especially in Germany.
TechEpiphany (via VideoCardz) has tweeted the latest sales data from German hardware retailer Mindfactory, which shows that 545 RTX 4070 Ti models were sold in the third week of January alone. For comparison, this is more than the combined sales of the Radeon RX 7900 XTX, RX 7900 XT and Intel Arc A770/A380 — admittedly, only 20 Intel cards were sold in one week.

Interestingly, Mindfactory statistics show that AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX sold 300 units, which is more than 100 more than the RTX 4080, with which it competes.
The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti also doesn’t perform too badly in the US. This is the third best-selling graphics card on Amazon after the RTX 3060 and the Ti variant, and it occupies two positions on the Newegg best-selling graphics processors chart: fifth and eighth.
As we know, the RTX 4070 Ti started life as the RTX 4080 12 GB for $900 last year. The reaction to the price and the difference in specifications compared to the RTX 4080 16 GB led to Nvidia “decommissioning” the card and renaming it the RTX 4070 Ti, but the $100 discount did not prove popular — we said in our review that it should not have the manufacturer’s recommended retail price of more than 700 dollars.
In addition, the lack of Founders Edition cards and the fact that this is only Nvidia’s recommendation means that several models can be found at this price.
Even the add-on board partner MSI ridiculed Nvidia’s pricing strategy. In a quickly deleted tweet, the company noted that the RTX 4070 Ti can be purchased in its store at a price “not as bad as the 4080.”
Another element noted by TechSpot is that the cost of the RTX 4070 Ti frame — the true value it offers — is almost the same as that of the RTX 3070.
