Winners this Sunday of Belarus (1-2), as part of the qualifications for Euro 2020, the Netherlands have achieved the right operation, thanks to a doubling of Wijnaldum. Here they are tentatively at the top of group C.

It was a match not to lose for the Oranje. Dolphins of Germany after their precious success gleaned this Thursday against Northern Ireland (3-1), the men of Ronald Koeman had to continue their momentum to keep away the Irish. Thanks to their victory this Sunday in Belarusian soil (1-2), the mission is accomplished and the qualification for the next Euro is a little more precise.

From the first minutes, Dutch visitors took the lead. A domination that they transformed on the scoreboard thanks to the two goals of Georginio Wijnaldum (32nd and 41st). What to see come and manage until the return of the locker room. What also to relax too quickly, thinking mass said before the hour.

A dangerous attitude, especially as Belorussians, much more conquerors to the recovery, managed to narrow the gap thanks to the precise head of Stanislav Dragun (54th). With a small goal in advance, Virgil Van Dijk’s partners suddenly shook. Without, however, breaking up and even managing to finish better than their adversaries, exhausted by so many vain efforts to try to pick up again.

The main thing is done for the Netherlands, who are taking advantage of this short success to seize very temporarily the first place in pool C, while waiting for the result of Germany moving on Sunday night in Estonia. With 15 points and the same number of matches as Northern Ireland (3rd), the Oranje are getting closer to a participation in the Euro. Competition for which they had missed their qualifying four years ago.
