Last year, Bubba Wallace made history at Talladega with a historic victory in the Yellowwood 500. Today he did some more at the Hollywood Casino 400.
Wallace won today’s major race at Kansas Speedway in the No. 45 car of the 23XI Racing team. He strove for the lead in the first and second stages before finally breaking through in the third.
As soon as Wallace took over the leadership from Alex Bowman, he didn’t want to take it back. The end result was the first victory of the season and the second victory in the career of the NASCAR star.
Fans quickly took to Twitter to congratulate Wallace on his big win. Many praise him for having silenced many doubters with his speech:
This victory was historic for Bubba Wallace. Last year, he became the first African-American driver to win a NASCAR Cup race, and now he has surpassed Hall of Fame member Wendell Scott by becoming the first African-American to win two races.
Wallace found a new life after taking the No. 45 car for the injured Kurt Busch.
Wallace finished in the top ten six times in the first 26 races of the season, driving his No. 23 car. But in the two races since he took 45th place, he has been in the top 10 both times and won the race.
There are still eight races left this season. Perhaps Wallace will be able to make history in the coming weeks.
