Taiwanese processor manufacturer MediaTek aims to expand the mid-range processor series by launching the advanced version of the Helio G70. In this context, the company announced its new processor Helio G80 with 8 cores and HyperEngine Gaming Technology.
MediaTek announced the Helio G80, an advanced version of the G70 series it introduced last month. The budget-friendly new processor of the G series targets mid-range smartphones and includes MediaTek’s HyperEngine gaming technology to enhance the mobile gaming experience.
The Helio G80 has a total 8-core CPU with 2 ARM Cortex-A75 cores that reach a maximum clock speed of 2.0 GHz and 6 ARM Cortex-A55 cores with a maximum clock rate of 1.8 GHz. The processor is also based on 12nm TSMC FinFET technology and does not contain a dedicated APU (accelerated processing unit), similar to the G70. Helio G80, which has ARM Mali-G52 on the GPU side, offers a slight increase in frequency compared to Helio G70.
MediaTek promises good gaming performance on budget-friendly phones with the G80
MediaTek Helio G80 supports LPDDR4X RAM up to 8GB at 1800MHz. The display, modem and connectivity are the same as the G70. Overall, the Helio G80 offers a slight increase in the maximum CPU and GPU frequency of Cortex A55 cores.
The Helio G80 also includes MediaTek’s HyperEngine technology. The new processor offers smart speed boost for a better gaming experience with this technology. For smartphones, it promises faster response time between Wi-Fi, LTE and base station. HyperEngine offers better performance in games with CPU, GPU and memory intelligent and dynamically heavy game engines. It also offers improved power efficiency for long play times, preventing a drop in performance.
MediaTek Helio G70 will be launched first with Realme C3. The Helio G80 is expected to launch with a budget-friendly smartphone, which will be launched in India this month.
