Matrix 4: Warner Bros. released this Monday (13) a new clip of Matrix Resurrections, showing a scene in which Morpheus offers the red pill to Neo. The images show a new attempt by Morpheus, now played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, to try to awaken Neo to his own reality as The Chosen One of the Matrix. In a scene very similar to the one introduced in the 1999 film, when the protagonist played by Keanu Reeves is reluctant to accept the conditions of a world beyond what he knows, a doubtful character is left in the air, while the real intentions are called into question. Originally, the red pill or blue pill dilemma emerged as one of the franchise’s biggest questions, with its proposals referring, respectively, to freedom for an abstract reality and ignorance about a universe far beyond the mechanical and limited.
In the first film, Neo ended up choosing to swallow the red pill, and everything indicates that, in the new feature, this will be the first step for the hero to recover his memories.
Directed by Lana Wachowski and starring Carrie-Anne Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra, Jonathan Groff and Jessica Henwick, Matrix Resurrections premieres December 22 simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max.
