Match report: Reading 0-1 Manchester United

Manchester United beat Reading 1-0 in a disappointing away game.

The first throw of the game was made by Hayley Ladd for the Reds, who hit it past the target.

Garcia ran well down the right flank, played to Thun on the edge of the penalty area, who gave the ball to Ladd, but her shot hit the goalkeeper directly.

On the other hand, Earps had a job, but fortunately the first shot of the royals was weak.

Reading turned into this game when a throw from 40 yards landed on the roof of the goal.

Moments later, Earps was forced to make a good save to break the crossbar.

United responded, Garcia found the side netting with a header and shot past the target shortly after.

United converted a penalty, but captain Katie Zelem couldn’t convert it.

The Reds had many chances, but they could not score a goal, Parris’ shot was blocked, and the subsequent shot hit the crossbar.

At the beginning of the second half, United tried too hard to open the scoring and got offside twice in the first five minutes.

Reading’s defence held firm when Thune struck a shot that was blocked and Russo had a chance.

It was a disappointing game for the Reds as they attacked wave after wave, but Reading had their chances too.

Earps was forced to make an incredible diving save as Reading headed for the goal. If United could have played to zero, this game would have given confidence to the number one in England.

In the latter stages of the game, manager Mark Skinner made some changes, and it was Williams who had an instant impact, shooting high into the top right corner of the goal from 12 yards.

Finally, United’s pressure paid off in the 87th minute.

The Reds just needed to hang on and, although there wasn’t much time left, in a league that relies heavily on goal difference, United kept trying to increase their advantage.

But they have just been relieved to have scored three points in a hotly contested WSL game.

Team: Earps, Batl, Blundell, Thune, Zelem, Ladd, Le Tissier, Garcia (Williams, 84), Turner, Parris (Thomas, 65), Russo
