Marcus Freeman is in danger of starting his coaching career with a score of 0:4.
The Fighting Irish are currently tied 17-17 with the Cal Golden Bears in the fourth quarter at Notre Dame Stadium.
Freeman became the head coach of the program after the departure of Brian Kelly at the end of last season. He exited the game in his first contest in a bowl game loss to Oklahoma State.
In 2022, the former defensive coordinator started 0-2, losing to Ohio State and Marshall.
Freeman is trending on social media amid his team’s recent problems.
“Marcus Freeman can’t take a break yet,” one fan wrote.
“Notre Dame was booed in the locker room at halftime of Marcus Freeman’s first two home games.
“The Marcus Freeman era is going like clockwork…” another added sarcastically.
Will Freeman be able to win his first victory as a head coach this afternoon?
