The cause of death of Lisa-Maria Presley has not yet been established, the medical examiner decided to postpone the conclusions.
According to CBS News, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner is requesting additional investigation and additional investigations into the death of the 54-year-old singer and songwriter.
Initial examination failed to determine the cause of Presley’s death. After additional testing is carried out, the doctor will evaluate the case again, but the timing of this process is not clear.
Presley—the only child of the late Elvis Presley—died on January 12, a few hours after she was rushed to the hospital following a medical emergency. An ambulance was called to Presley’s home in Calabasas, where rescuers reportedly performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Her mother, Priscilla Presley, shared the news on social media, saying her daughter is “getting the best care.”
Priscilla Presley later confirmed Lisa Marie’s death, saying in a statement: “My beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.”
The news of Presley’s death prompted an outpouring of tributes, including her ex-husband Nicolas Cage, the estate of Michael Jackson, Axl Rose and Elvis star Austin Butler among those who paid tribute to the late singer. Others who paid their respects included Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins, Pink, Garbage, Diane Warren, Bette Middler and John Travolta.
Over the weekend, it was confirmed that Lisa Marie will be buried at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee, next to her late father and son Ben Keo, who committed suicide in 2020 at the age of 27. The lawn in front of Graceland Mansion this Sunday (January 22).
This week it became known that Lisa Maria’s three daughters — Riley Keough and Harper and Finley Lockwood—will inherit Graceland. Lisa Marie retained ownership of the estate— the former Elvis Graceland mansion and the surrounding 13 acres —in 1980, after her father’s death in 1977. In 1982, Graceland was turned into a public museum in honor of Elvis.
Lisa Maria Presley was born in 1968 — the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley and the sole heiress of her father’s fortune. She has released three studio albums in her lifetime, with the first two — “To Whom It May Concern” in 2003 and “Now What” in 2004 — entering the top ten on the Billboard Albums chart.
Presley’s last public appearance took place on January 11 at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards ceremony, which she attended with her mother in honor of Elvis staged by Baz Luhrmann.
