Legends of Runeterra (LoR), Riot Games’ new card game, is now scheduled to launch on April 30. Based on the universe of League of Legends (LoL), the strategy card game is available for free download later this month on Android or iPhone phones (iOS) and on the PC (Windows). Announced this Saturday (4), the novelty debuts with an unprecedented set of more than 120 cards, new champions and a region – both are due to be revealed on the LoR social networks soon. The developer says that the multiplatform feature is already enabled.
Legends of Runeterra was announced in October last year, during the League of Legends’ 10th anniversary celebrations. Free of charge, the game offers two types of in-game currency: Fragments, which the user wins by playing; and Coins, which can be purchased with real money. To access new cards, the player must complete missions and the number of cards received increases as he plays. When you want a specific card, the player can enable it using Fragments or Coins.
The game has 318 cards and six regions: Demacia, Noxus, Ionia, Piltover and Zaun, Freljord and Isle of Shadows. It is possible to choose which region you want to unlock first, with the possibility to change it whenever you want, in order to facilitate the creation of an ideal deck.
All characters and cards are from somewhere in Runeterra, the same universe as the champions of League of Legends. The title tries to adapt mechanics already known to LoL players, so each hero has his goal within the game. One tip is to understand how each character’s skills work to create decks with powerful synergies.
The Legends of Runeterra (LoR) Beta Season has been available for free download on PC since January 24th. According to Riot, the achievements of users during the experimental phase remain in the account after the official launch of the game – that is, it is possible to keep cards, decks and champions. It is worth mentioning that the mobile version will only be made available with the official release of LoR, at the end of April.
