LeBron James debuted his new joint jersey with Liverpool on Wednesday before becoming the first player to break the NBA scoring record.

In a 46-point game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night, James became the first in NBA history to score 40 or more points against all 30 franchises.

The Los Angeles Lakers icon is now just 157 points behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record-breaking performance in the NBA, making him one of the greatest players in history.

This makes his connection with Liverpool valuable, especially in the United States, and before the game on Crypto.com Arena James debuted a new T-shirt in collaboration with the club.

The T-shirt produced by Nike has not yet been released, but it is expected to be available in a limited edition, although its design is likely to cause controversy among fans.

A black T-shirt with vertical stripes, including a red stripe and a patterned inscription “YNWA”, will be part of the new LeBron x Liverpool line, and James also wears a pair of Air Max 1 from this collection.

The shirt is decorated with red details for the LFC, Nike and LeBron logos, with the latter replacing the usual Standard Chartered sponsor on the front.

The label attached to the bottom of the T-shirt reads: “Designed according to the exact specifications of Liverpool FC and LeBron James.”

Liverpool’s partnership with James extends a partnership that began in 2011 when the 38-year-old became a minority shareholder of the club as part of a deal with Fenway Sports Group.

Most recently, James became a partner of FSG in 2021, when the ownership group sold shares to strengthen its position after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Although there are plans to either sell Liverpool or seek new minority investments in the club, FSG is also ready to acquire a new NBA franchise in Las Vegas, which will be headed by James when he retires.
