Kobbie Mainoo Will Become a Manchester United Player — Charlton Athletic

Kobbie Mainoo is Manchester United’s surprise debutant tonight against Charlton Athletic.

Manager Eric ten Hag has announced changes to his team as they seek to reach the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.

Mainoo, who is only 17 years old, is included along with other young men Alejandro Garnacho and Anthony Elanga.

His inclusion came as a huge shock, as he had never played a minute of competitive football for the Red Devils’ first XI.

In a quarterfinal that needs to be won, albeit against opponents from Ligue 1, it’s a huge leap of faith on Ten Hag’s part.

Scott McTominay and Fred are also returning to massive changes.

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are put in cotton wool before Saturday’s Manchester derby.

David de Gea was rested, and Tom Heaton rarely appeared in the starting lineup.

Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malasia form a relatively experienced four defenders, in which players such as Raphael Varane and Luke Shaw rest.

Anthony is another senior player who got into the starting lineup.

At this stage, it is unclear who plays the central striker, since there is no one in the starting lineup who has had experience playing in a senior-level position.

Anthony Martial didn’t even get on the bench, which includes David de Gea, Victor Lindelof, Aaron Van Bissaka, Luke Shaw, Casemiro, Eriksen, Rashford, Facundo Pellistri and Zidane Iqbal.
