Katy Perry Refused to Collaborate With Billie Eilish Because of “Boring” Music

Katy Perry said that she refused to collaborate with Billie Eilish because she considered her music “boring”. She regrets it now.

The Dark Horse singer admitted that one of the biggest mistakes in her career was refusing to work with the hitmaker Bad Guy.

In 2016, one of her friends told Katie to check on Billie, but at the time she was less than impressed with the singer. Speaking at the 102.7 Kiis FM event, which was held in Los Angeles, she spoke about the massive failure.

Katy told the audience that her friend’s email read: “Hey, look at this new artist. I would really like us to work with her because she worked with me on Unsub [Records].”

“It was a song called Ocean Eyes, and it was just a blonde, and I thought: “Uh, boring,” she said.

“Big mistake, huge mistake,” she added, before joking, “Don’t let this get on the internet.”

“Ocean Eyes”, which was written and produced by Billie’s older brother, Finneas O’Connell in 2016, became her breakthrough hit after it was released when she was just 13 years old.

Since then, the 21-year-old singer has become one of the biggest names in the industry, winning seven Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe Award and an Oscar for Best Original Song.

Some fans said they were happy that Katie refused to collaborate because it gave Billy the opportunity to develop his music on his own.

“Katie would make Billie too pop, so she’d be better off, lol,” one of them wrote.

“I’m glad this collaboration didn’t happen because it allowed Billie to create her own personality and sound like an artist,” another added.

There are no hard feelings between the two singers and songwriters, and they have since shared several helpful messages on social media.
