Jurgen Klopp Updates on The Return Date of Luis Diaz and Two Other Absentees

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Joe Gomez and Luis Diaz will return after the international break, while there is still uncertainty about Thiago and his hip problem.

On Wednesday, a Colombian journalist said that Diaz could return to action during Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth, five months after his last game.

But the winger has not yet returned to full training, and Klopp confirmed on Friday that Diaz will not take part in the match against the Cherries — instead, the likely outcome is a return after the international break.

Providing an update on Diaz, Joe Gomez and Thiago, Klopp told reporters at his press conference before Bournemouth that “all three are unavailable” on Saturday and that they are “at different stages.”

“Joey [Gomez] may be able to train [at] the beginning of the week, Luis, I hope, within the next week — after the international break both can [return],” Klopp said.

“We will see Thiago.

“None of them have trained with the team yet, we’ll see how it develops in the next couple of weeks.”

As for any new injuries, the manager said, “Nothing I’ve heard of.” This is always good news!

The last time Diaz played for the Reds at Arsenal was on October 9, due to an initial LCL tear, he was out of the game for two months, and then suffered a second injury when he was in Dubai for a training camp in the middle of the season.

The 26-year-old is gradually accelerating his recovery and has been running outside and working with the ball for several weeks.

With Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo working effectively in tandem, Diogo Hota recovering from injury and Roberto Firmino to be called up, Liverpool are embarrassed by the wealth in attack.

When you then add Diaz, Klopp will have a long-awaited selection headache for the remaining weeks of the campaign, but contrary to our expectations, this will not happen at Real Madrid.
