James Gunn Claims His DC Plans Will Come Out This Month, But When?

0

There are many comic book fans who currently have their eye on one James Gunn. He and Peter Safran were appointed heads of DC Films back in November, and since then the duo have reportedly been working hard to create a list of projects to keep the franchise busy for the next few years. Gunn promised us news in January, but time is running out.

James Gunn previously announced that the first details about which characters and stories will make up the first films of this new era will appear sometime in January. On the 20th of the month, Gunn politely asked everyone on Twitter to calm down, as he still had more than a third of the month left. But a few more days have passed, so Gunn has less than a week left to fulfill his promise.

In fairness, one press release from Warner Bros. is enough to make everything that Gunn promised happen, so it can happen at any moment. There is no need for this to be a large-scale presentation, as we might expect if SDCC was on the horizon. This press release may have already been written, you just need to wait for a few details to be confirmed before clicking “Submit”.

If this is what is happening, then we can expect the last day of January to be the date we are waiting for. There may be contracts that are currently being rejected, or offers to certain actors waiting to see if they will accept them. If they have until the end of the month to complete some deals, an announcement can very easily be made at the last minute.

We saw Jason Momoa make a few comments on Instagram that, without revealing the details, clearly hinted that he would be part of what would come next. Whatever news he has in mind, it seems to have just happened, and therefore it is likely that Gunn and Safran are having similar conversations with other actors. This may include both those who were previously part of the District of Columbia, such as Momoa, and others who are likely to be new.

We know that James Gunn is working on a Superman movie in which another actor will not play Henry Cavill. Of course, this does not mean that we will get a lot of details about this film this month. It may well be that the project is further away. We know that Gunn and Safran are working on films for the next 10 years, but this month they will not announce plans for the entire decade.

We really don’t know what else is planned for the future. But we know that “Wonder Woman 3” is in development hell, and Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam is not going to return anytime soon, although a return in the future is not ruled out.

If something had happened that would have led to a postponement for February, James Gunn would probably have already said so. He is usually responsive and honest on social media. Since we haven’t heard about it from him, it seems the previously announced plan is still in effect. Fans will just need to keep paying attention. The fewer days in January, the greater the probability of an announcement.
