Inventing Anna: New Shonda Rhimes Series On Netflix Gets Trailer

Inventing Anna: Netflix released the first trailer for Inventing Anna, a new series created by Shonda Rhimes for streaming. The attraction is directed and scripted by the executive responsible for Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and Bridgerton — through their production company ShondaLand — and its plot is the adaptation of a true story about the life of Anna Delvey (portrayed by Julia Garner, from Ozark), a scammer who defrauded banks and elite organizations in New York.

The preview focuses on investigating who the crook is, whose real name is Anna Sorokin, and her entry into a world of wealth and luxury to commit crimes. In addition, the video features the main cast alongside Garner, consisting of Anna Chlumsky (Veep), Laverne Cox (Orange Is the New Black), Alexis Floyd (Woman Power) and Katie Lowes (Scandal).

Inventing Anna: learn more about the story

Anna Sorokin introduced herself to the world as Anna Delvey, a false heiress of German origin. After arriving in New York, over the months he became friends with socialites and other influential people in the city, and became an Instagram sensation. Such ostentation and sudden success raised suspicions about his source of money.

The miniseries, consisting of 9 episodes, will adapt an article by Jessica Pressler published in New York Magazine. The journalist, played by Chlumsky, will also play an important role in the plot – however, the character will be called Vivian – as she was the one who revealed the criminal’s frauds. In 2019, Sorokin was convicted of robbery, theft and other charges.

Inventing Anna will come to Netflix on February 11, 2022.
