The Corona virus outbreak affects the Mobile World Congress, one of the world’s largest technology fairs. New companies were added to companies that announced that they would not participate in MWC 2020 due to the outbreak.

New brands continue to be added to brands that have announced that they will not attend the Mobile World Congress (MWC) due to the Corona virus outbreak. Last week, LG announced it would skip this year’s trade fair, while ZTE canceled the press conference, but said it would still attend the fair. They were followed by Sony, Nvidia and Amazon, who canceled their participation yesterday. Finally, Intel announced that MediaTek, TCL and Vivo will not attend the event.

Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has announced that it is closely monitoring the new Corona virus pneumonia (NCP) outbreak and is constantly evaluating the activities they plan to participate. Emphasizing that the health of its employees and the public is a priority, the company announced that it has decided to withdraw from MWC 2020, which will take place in Barcelona, Spain. Vivo also stated that he will introduce the concept phone APEX 2020, which he plans to exhibit at MWC soon.

Another smartphone manufacturer, TCL, announced that it has canceled its press event scheduled for February 22, due to global health concerns from the Corona virus. However, this decision will not affect the company’s other MWC plans. TCL will showcase its new mobile devices at its booth between February 24-27.

On the other hand, two major semiconductor manufacturers Intel and MediaTek announced that they withdrew from the MWC 2020. Yesterday, the GSM Association (GSMA), which regulated the MWC, made a statement saying that the Coronavirus epidemic accepted the severity, but there are more than 2,800 participants already attending the fair.

GSMA also announced the health and safety measures it will implement for all participants. The most striking rule is that passengers from China’s Hubei province are not allowed. In addition, all visitors from China will need to show proof (passport stamp, health certificate) that they are outside China 14 days before the event.
