Instagram tests removing photo feed from Stories feed

Instagram can make a big change from the Stories feature. The social network is considering removing the option to share publications from the feed in Stories mode.

According to Social Media Today, some users are participating in testing the platform. Thus, they receive a notification about the change that disables the option to share photos or videos from the regular feed in Stories.

In the notification, Instagram says that some users don’t like to see the same content being shared on Stories. Then, she highlights that each resource was created for a certain purpose.

“We heard from our community that they want to see less timeline posts in Stories. During this test, you will not be able to share a feed post ”, reveals the notification received by users.

In a statement, Instagram said the tests are being carried out in selected regions. The social network also revealed that there are no plans to implement the change more broadly at this stage.

NGOs and small businesses will suffer

If implemented, the new Instagram change will reach several small businesses and non-governmental organizations. That’s because the social network algorithm favors the posting of friends and family on the timeline.

For example, sharing a publication on Stories contributes to NGOs having more visibility and obtaining more donations. The same goes for small businesses to find new customers without investing in ads.

In addition, preventing the sharing of content goes against the concept of engagement so encouraged by Instagram and other Facebook platforms. In other words, a contradictory positioning.

Finally, the social network also asks users not to publish content created on TikTok using the Reels tool. Although they are not banning publications, the company stresses that the new Reels must be “original and authentic”.
