A brand new poster for the upcoming survival movie “The Beast” shows Idris Elba fighting face-to-face with an evil lion in the savannah. After appearing in several well-known franchise projects, including Sonic 2 and Thor: Love and Thunder, the English actor will return to the thriller genre in a new film by Icelandic director Baltasar Kormakur. In Universal Picture’s “The Beast,” Elba plays Dr. Nate Samuels, who travels to South Africa with his daughters (Iyana Halle and Leah Jeffries) to visit a friend (Sharlto Copley) at his hunting preserve. However, upon arrival, the group encounters a wild lion.
A new poster for the film has been posted on the BeastMovie Twitter page ahead of its August 19 release date, in which Elba fights a bloodthirsty creature that eventually chases his family across the South African savannah. Dr. Samuels of Elba looks exhausted and bloodied, he has nothing but a combat knife against an attacking predator. Check out the official artwork below:
Unlike the full Beast trailer released in May, in which the lion was teased with short but terrifying snippets, the new poster shows the animal much more directly. Although the proclaimed “king of the jungle” is aesthetically no different from any other lion, the menacing growl on his muzzle suggests that he has an unpleasant temper and probably takes revenge on people. Although Leo’s motives are unclear, Elba’s character must use his wits and any available resources to survive the nightmare and protect his family. Judging by the new Universal Beast poster, Samuels’ battle with the monster will push them both to the limit.
