It was a significant day in royal history on May 19, 2018, when Prince Harry took the plunge with American actress Meghan Markle. Thousands of people surrounded Windsor Castle to take part in the iconic wedding. Millions witnessed the glorious ceremony live, sitting in their homes thanks to the live broadcast. It may surprise you that British racing driver Lewis Hamilton was also one of the many who watched the wedding on TV.
Back in 2018, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle charmed the legend of Formula 1. He also admitted that he was upset because he missed the opportunity to visit St. George’s Castle to witness the wedding. Why did Lewis Hamilton think the Sussex wedding was the best he had ever seen?
Prince Harry Meghan Markle has added diversity to the royal family
During a conversation in 2018, Lewis Hamilton said that the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was a day of pride for the whole world. He welcomed the Duchess of Sussex, and also called her entry into the royal family a symbol of positivity and change.
“I watched here on the weekend just with a smile on my face all the time. It was the best wedding I’ve ever seen, and I’m not a big fan of weddings at all. I avoid them at all costs. But it was one. I wish I was actually in England to see this,” Hamilton said, quoted by Express.
The F1 legend showed that the diversity at Buckingham Palace was a huge event for all people around the world. It was wonderful to see the variety of music, choir and ministers in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. Hamilton also hailed the California royals as an influential couple, and their wedding as a fairy tale.
Meanwhile, a lot has changed in the royal family after the iconic wedding. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are no longer members of the royal family. After less than two years of their marriage, they separated from the institution to live a private life in California. Over the past two months, the couple has released six Netflix and Spare documentary series to highlight the atrocities of the firm and the British media that forced them to leave the country.
