Huami, a Xiaomi partner company, launched today (19) the Amazfit Ares smart watch, which arrives on the market to compete with giants like Apple Watch, but with more modest prices and specifications. Bringing rustic design, the model hits the market as an advanced option for those who exercise.
Equipped with silicone bracelets, Huami’s smartwatch has an octagonal design screen, with color support and personalization of the initial interface. The 1.28-inch touch-sensitive display also features Gorilla Glass 3 protection and a cover that prevents fingerprints.
On the battery side, the device promises to deliver up to 14 days of use on a two-hour charge. The autonomy can be extended for up to three months when the product is in limited operation, showing only the hours and basic information.
Advanced sports modes
The product software includes 70 different physical activity mapping modes, which optimize the device’s sensors for the exercise practiced. Patterns include boxing, swimming, martial arts, ballet, zumba and even bowling.
To ensure water sports, the Amazfit Ares is water resistant and works even when it is 50 meters underwater. The product also features sensors such as GPS and BioTracker PPG, which map up to 40 metrics, including heart rate, speed and altitude. The product can also be used for sleep monitoring.
In addition, Huami’s smart watch comes with the FirstBeat algorithm, which is used by sports professionals and offers advanced data on physical performance. The technology allows checking factors such as maximum oxygen level (VO2 Max), recovery time and exercise load.
Pricing and availability
The Huami Amazfit Ares smartwatch will be sold in black and green, and will arrive on June 1 in China through online retailers. The watch will cost 499 yuan.
